Eliminate Hepatitis C Australia

Eliminate Hepatitis C Australia (ECA II) is a Burnet Institute initiative driving Australia’s national response to hepatitis C elimination. Hepatitis Australia co-leads the Policy Pathways Action Group, which turns research into real-world policy and system change.

The Policy Pathways Action Group focuses on priority populations, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people who inject drugs, and those at risk of liver cancer. It ensures community leadership and lived experience shape advocacy, highlights effective approaches, and shares research to support improved health for people living with hepatitis C.

The Policy Action Group’s main objectives are:

  • Turn ECA II research into practical, sustainable health system changes.
  • Identify opportunities to influence policy and practice in hepatitis C elimination.
  • Curate and share evidence to guide improvements in care.
  • Track local and global trends to scale successful approaches in Australia.
  • Ensure community voices and lived experience guide research translation.
