All health information on this site and other websites owned by Hepatitis Australia has been through a review process, including clinical reviews of medical information.

Our articles and health information reference verified sources and references are listed or linked on each webpage. Date of last update is listed on all health information pages.  

Hepatitis Australia works closely with research partners, including the Doherty Institute, Kirby Institute, Burnet Institute, Centre for Social Research in Health, and Australian Research Centre in Sex, Health and Society to review and publish accurate data, including statistics used on our websites. 

Hepatitis Australia seeks specialist advice and input from members of the Hepatitis Australia Editorial Committee on health information resources. The committee provide advice on accuracy and accessibility of documents. They collectively offer expertise on clinical information, epidemiology, lived experiences and communications.  

The current members of the Hepatitis Australia Editorial Committee are:

On occasion, we will seek additional or alternate specialist advice from other experts relevant to the content being produced. This is stated on those resources.  

The health information content on Hepatitis Australia’s corporate website has undergone a health literacy review process (last completed in 2022) to improve accessibility. This process applied plain language and linguistic guidelines and principles recommended by the World Health Organisation, Centres for Disease Control and Australian Commission for Safety and Quality of Health Care to the Hepatitis Australia website content.  

To maintain consistency, hepatitis information from Hepatitis Australia’s corporate website is used across other websites.  

Translations have been undertaken by NAATI-credentialed translators and have undergone a community checking process. From 2024, all new translations are certified to conform with the global standard for Translation Services (ISO-17100 - Translation Services).   

Our website provides a variety of information for any person wanting to know more about viral hepatitis. This includes people impacted by viral hepatitis and the workforce that engages with and supports them. The site includes information about hepatitis A, B and C as well as information about projects, services, news and research associated with these conditions.  

Hepatitis Australia does not provide direct services to individuals but provides information to assist people in accessing support. The Hepatitis Australia website is made possible through grants from the Australian Government Department of Health and Aged Care. From time to time, some content on this site may be supported by other sources of funding. Where this is the case it will be stated within that material.  

The Hepatitis Australia website does not host any form of commercial advertising or promote specific commercial products. From time-to-time the website will include the promotion of non-commercial opportunities or services relevant to people impacted by viral hepatitis or people working in the area of viral hepatitis.
