Hepatitis Australia has launched its latest report, If Hepatitis was 100 People, offering a snapshot of how hepatitis B and hepatitis C impact Australians.

Almost 300,000 people in Australia currently live with hepatitis B and hepatitis C.

These viruses affect the liver, increasing the risk of liver disease and liver cancer. Nearly 1,000 Australians die each year because of hepatitis B and hepatitis C, despite hepatitis C being treatable and hepatitis B having a vaccine.

By translating national data into a simple, human-scale format, the report reveals the ongoing disparities in testing, diagnosis, treatment, and care.

This report is a call to action for more equitable access to testing, culturally appropriate care, and investment in elimination efforts.
