cover of report on responding to blood borne viruses in prisonsThis paper developed by Hepatitis Australia, in collaboration with AIVL, AFAO, NAPWHA, looks at the background of Australia’s policy responses to BBVs and why a revitalised response to HBV, HCV and HIV in prison settings is essential. With advances in medical treatments, including a cure for hepatitis C, and increasing acceptance and use of proven prevention strategies, the elimination of BBVs as a public health concern is achievable if there is political will and a cohesive, nationally led response that includes addressing BBVs in Australia’s prisons.
