Staff

At Hepatitis Australia we have a highly dedicated and experienced team of people working to develop and deliver our programs to achieve the aims of the organisation. Most of our team is based in our Deakin office.

Our current staff team consists of the people listed below in alphabetical order. You can click on the name of each team member below to find out more about their role.

Amanda Bode - Policy Analyst

Expand

Amanda is a passionate advocate for social justice, health equity and evidence based practice and has over 15 years of experience in policy and project roles in health and community peak bodies. Amanda has a strong track record for delivering positive outcomes in coalition building and policy development at the organisational, sector and systems levels. Amanda has a Masters of Public Health and is undertaking graduate study in counselling.

Amanda joined Hepatitis Australia as a Policy Analyst in January 2021 and is available Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Bruce Ryan - Business Support Officer

Bruce has 30+ years of public service experience. He loves traveling and flying kites.

Bruce is our business support officer and works part time Tuesday to Thursday.

Carrie Fowlie - Chief Executive Officer

Expand

Carrie joined Hepatitis Australia as CEO in April 2020, with almost two decades of peak body experience.

Carrie has extensive representational experience at the national and international level. Her work with elected officials and their offices, in parliaments, at the United Nations, and with government officials has resulted in policies that are consistent with the evidence and the priorities of the constituencies she has represented.

Grace Hogan - Communications Coordinator

Expand

Grace is passionate about health, or more specifically equal access to health care. Grace joined us in March 2019 with experience in health literacy and program management for the Commonwealth Department of Health and Canberra Health Services. Outside of work, she spends her free time in the dance studio or up on the mountains attempting to look cool on her skis.

Grace works Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays as the Communications Coordinator.

John Didlick - Policy Analyst

A broad range of life experiences has helped John discover a strong sense of social justice and a commitment to community. Prior to starting with Hepatitis Australia in early 2018, John was Executive Officer at Hepatitis ACT and before that enjoyed various government sector roles, including in alcohol and other drug policy and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health policy.

John works part-time at Hepatitis Australia and endeavours to make sense of hepatitis-related policy matters. When he’s not reading, discussing or writing about viral hepatitis policy, you might find him catching and smoking trout in the Snowy Mountains.

Joshua Anlezark - General Manager

Joshua is a values-based manager with experience leading community organisations in the ACT and in governance and representative roles with national peaks. Joshua understands the critical importance of community based and partnership responses to support communities whose intersectional experiences result in increased structural and systemic disadvantage. Joshua was previously Executive Officer of Hepatitis ACT and a member of the Hepatitis Australia Board. The fulfilment of working to eliminate viral hepatitis compensates for his disappointment at never making it in musical theatre.

Joshua joined the team in January 2021. As General Manager, he supports the CEO and team to shape, deliver and monitor Hepatitis Australia’s strategic and operational performance. Joshua is available Monday to Friday.

Julie Robert - Programs Manager

Expand

Julie has been working for health and community peak bodies for over nine years and has expertise in workforce development, capacity building and research. Julie has lead a variety of projects including the ACT Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) Qualification Strategy and the ACT ATOD Workers Group. She passionately enjoys working in the community sector and with people who share her values of collaboration, social justice and health equity. In another life she used to be an archaeologist and was able to run half-marathons. Now her running training mostly consists in chasing her little ones.

Julie has joined the Hepatitis Australia team in August 2021 and works full time as the Programs Manager.

Kevin Marriott - Director of Programs & Communications

Expand

Kevin has 25 years of experience in the blood-borne viruses sector, including human and community services, health promotion, community development, working with media and in program and executive management. Kevin originally commenced with Hepatitis Australia in 2013.

Kevin is currently on extended leave.

Sandra Wilson: Finance Officer

Sandra spent many years owning various retail business in the Blue Mountains and Mudgee before moving to Canberra. She happily joined Hepatitis Australia and has been the Finance Officer for the last 14 years. While working at Hepatitis Australia, she studied proofreading and editing for two years, hence her love of correct grammar and words.

Sandra’s interests include reading copiously, baking, gardening, grumbling over the incorrect use of grammar and spending time with her animals. It is her life’s work to avoid any form of strenuous exercise.

Wendy Anderson - Program Manager

Expand

Wendy has more than 13 years’ experience working at Hepatitis Australia. During this time, she has seen many changes and continually celebrates the fact that hepatitis C can now be easily cured. Wendy is passionate about creating communities of practice, working collaboratively to enable people to live free from the impact of hepatitis. Wendy has previously managed network groups, organised conferences and coordinated World Hepatitis Day and most recently managed the TEST CURE LIVE campaign, a hepatitis C awareness campaign that aims to motivate people to speak to a GP about hepatitis C testing and/or cure.

Wendy’s other passion is land restoration and spends much of her spare time looking after her rural property.

Wendy works Monday to Thursday.
