In Poor Health: Health Care in Australian Immigration Detention

Every year before the new cures became available more and more Australians were dying from hepatitis C.  Since 2016 the tens of thousands who have been cured are living longer, more productive, happier and healthier lives in ‘The Lucky Country’. 

But if you happen to be living with hepatitis C on our soil and in our care while seeking asylum, you may not be so ‘lucky’. Even if you escaped with your life from a war-torn country you may now be facing death from a curable disease because of ‘routine denial’ of hepatitis C treatment.
