There remains much to do and any delay in meeting the needs of the more than 400,000 people affected by hepatitis B and hepatitis C will make the achievement of the nationally agreed targets by 2022 increasingly difficult. Similar to HIV, the elimination of hepatitis B and hepatitis C is achievable with the right level of government support and political will. When the goal of elimination of hepatitis B and hepatitis C is achieved, the entire nation will be a long-term beneficiary from an economic, social and public health perspective.
