Australian Federal Election 2016
Over the last year there have been a number of positive steps made in Australia's response to viral hepatitis. However, there is much more to do in coming years if we are to move toward the elimination of viral hepatitis.
In the lead up to the Federal Election on 2 July 2016, Hepatitis Australia has contacted each of the key political parties to highlight the importance of viral hepatitis. This included asking each of the parties to outline their commitment in three key areas. These include:
- continuing to support for the strong partnership approach to
hepatitis B, hepatitis C and other blood-borne viruses
- being a public voice against hepatitis related stigma, and
- working with the state and territory governments to develop a cohesive response to viral hepatitis in prisons
The responses from each of the political parties will be made available on this site as they become available.
