The National Hepatitis C Strategy 2005-2008 was published by the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing in 2005. It provides the foundation for national action to manage hepatitis C in Australia until 2008.

An implementation plan for the Strategy has been developed by the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing to support implementation, monitoring and evaluation of achievements against the Strategy across a range of stakeholders. The National Hepatitis C Testing Policy was released in May 2007. The National Hepatitis C Testing Policy has been developed as a concise source of standardised currently available information to assist government, health professionals, industry, people living with hepatitis C, and the community in general, about matters associated with hepatitis C testing.
