A step closer to interferon free treatment for hepatitis C in Australia – Sofosbuvir has been approved for use in the USA

The [United States] FDA has approved the first drug intended to be part of hepatitis C (HCV) treatment that -- at least for some patients -- does not also use pegylated interferon.

Sofosbuvir (Sovaldi) is the second new drug approved by the agency in the past 2 weeks to treat chronic HCV infection. The other drug, simeprevir (Olysio), is indicated only for combination treatment involving interferon and ribavirin....Click here to view full article.
