The 2011 National Hepatitis Health Promotion Conference is fast approaching, Hepatitis Australia would like to invite conference delegates to The Big B Breakfast: Joining the Dots for people new to working with hepatitis B.
The Big B Breakfast is brought to you by ASHM and funded by the Australian Government, Department of Health and Ageing.
Time and location: 7.30am – 9.00am, light breakfast to be provided.
Speakers Include: Dr Ben Cowie, Epidemiologist and Infectious Disease Physician; Dr Jacqui Richmond, Clinical Nurse Consultant; Yvonne Drazic, PhD student

Seminar content:
The basics of hepatitis B - You will gain an understanding of HBV transmission routes, chronic versus acute infection, vaccination, phases of hepatitis B infection (CHB). There is no such thing as a healthy carrier
Who has hepatitis B? - Epidemiology in the international, national and local context will be outlined, including countries of high prevalence. You will learn about the strong association between liver cancer and chronic hepatitis B.
Priority populations in Australia - What are the needs, enablers and barriers for culturally and linguistically diverse communities? Are Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island peoples accessing support and health services for chronic hepatitis B?
Basic treatment and management - What are the aims and risks of treatment? To what extent can CHB be managed in primary care?
The lived experience of hepatitis B - How to live well with chronic hepatitis B. The experience of diagnosis and treatment. What is the impact of CHB on families?
