‘Excellence in Viral Hepatitis Health Promotion’
This award will be presented to an organisation or individual for the planning, implementation and evaluation of a health promotion project/program, in recognition of ‘Excellence in viral hepatitis health promotion.’ The Australian Health Promotion Association website outlines the definition and core competencies of health promotion.
Award Eligibility
- A health promotion program or project implemented by an organisation or individual.
- The program or project must have a significant focus on aspects of either viral hepatitis prevention or on viral hepatitis treatment, care and support.
- The project must demonstrate effective collaboration and community consultation
- The project must demonstrate innovative or best practice approaches in health promotion
- The project must be able to demonstrate effective community outcomes through the results of a partial or complete evaluation.
How to make a nomination
Nominations can be made by an individual or by an organisation including the organisation running the nominated program or project. All organisational nominations must be endorsed by the CEO or President.
To make a nomination you need to complete the awards nomination form. This requires you to provide:
- Your email and day-time phone contact details.
- The name and contact details of the organisation(s) or individual(s) that host the projects/program you are nominating for an award.
- The name of the project/program you are nominating for an award.
- A brief description of the project/program, including a brief rationale behind the program/project.
- A brief statement outlining how the project demonstrates each of the award eligibility.
- Any additional information that demonstrates how the project has excelled against the criteria listed above.

All nominations must be received by COB 4th of November, 2011.
Judging Criteria
The awards will be judged by a panel of three judges representing peak not-for-profit community organisations.
In judging the ‘Excellence in Viral Hepatitis Health Promotion’ award the applications will be assessed against the following key criteria. The projects/programs must broadly demonstrate a commitment to respect and collaboration with the target group as well as innovative and effective practice. In addition, they should excel in at least one of these three areas.
Respect and collaboration
- Respect of the target group is evident in all aspects of the project/program.
- A collaborative approach that engages members of the target group and/or partner organisations in planning and implementing the program/project is employed wherever possible.
- Demonstrates effective engagement with hard to reach communities.
Innovation
- The project/program represents an innovative approach to viral hepatitis health promotion or an innovative development of a ‘tried and true’ method.
Effective practice
- The program has been reviewed to ensure processes are appropriate to achieve the objectives of the project/program.
- Evaluation demonstrates that the project is effectively achieving its health promotion goals.
